Heat-resistant fans

Heat-resistant fans

The exhaust side of a sauna room, or any duct run exposed to hot air, needs a fan with a heat-resistant motor and blades rather than a resin motor or a general-purpose sirocco fan. We select fans by role: supply, exhaust and drying after hours.

DecNord · Estonia

Panels designed for the sauna

DecNord wall panels are high-quality solid-wood panels handmade in Estonia. Made from selected woods, including fine abachi, the certified solid thermowood is designed from the start for the harsh sauna environment.

Heat treatment improves dimensional stability and resistance to heat and humidity. The precisely engineered construction makes installation smooth and the finish neat, from private saunas in fine homes to wellness facilities and hospitality spaces.

DecNord's own LED system fits the panels perfectly. It is heat and humidity resistant for the sauna, lights at 3000K and is easy to install.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about ventilation and choosing equipment.

Ask us anything else
01How is sauna ventilation different from ordinary ventilation planning?
A sauna room runs at 80–100°C, hotter still around the heater, and humidity spikes during aufguss. Fans made for living spaces lack heat resistance: resin parts degrade and bearings seize. A sauna needs heat-resistant fans and ducts and a properly designed supply and exhaust route. On top of the Building Standards Act ventilation rules, Saunature plans for sauna air circulation: supply below the heater, exhaust high on the wall opposite it.
02When is a Saunature heat-resistant fan the right choice?
The exhaust side of a sauna room, or any duct run exposed to hot air, needs a fan with a heat-resistant motor and blades rather than a resin motor or a general-purpose sirocco fan. Saunature selects heat-resistant fans for the sauna by role: supply, exhaust and drying after hours. The exact model and rated temperature are proposed from the latest catalogue once we know the facility's conditions.
03Where should the air supply and exhaust openings go?
Saunature recommends the supply opening below the heater (100–150 mm above the floor) and the exhaust high on the wall opposite the heater (2,000 mm or more above the floor). Fresh air then passes over the heat source and rises, creating circulation of steam and air, so löyly feels even across the room. Openings should be at least 100 mm × 100 mm, with an insect-screened louvre on the exhaust side.
04Who handles which part of the installation?
Saunature supplies the heat-resistant fans and dedicated parts and plans the sauna-side ventilation (opening positions, required airflow and control method). Building-side ductwork, electrical work and fire-stopping of penetrations are done by your building services designer or contractor. Saunature provides specifications, layout drawings and electrical capacity data, and joins site meetings.
