Prepare your sauna installation
Fire department paperwork
Enter your details, equipment and installation site to prepare four attachments for a Japanese fire department filing.
You file the notice yourself. Obtain the main municipal form, such as the notice of installation of fire-using equipment, from the fire department responsible for the installation address. Before construction, ask them whether a notice is needed and which form, deadline, copies and additional drawings apply. These vary by location and equipment.

For electric heaters only, never wood or gas. The four documents are in Japanese. Leave unknown details empty; they will be visibly marked for completion.

Checked: 27 October 2026 JST
- Tokyo Fire Department: filing and attachments (Tokyo example)
- Tokyo Fire Department: main filing form (Tokyo example)
- Nagoya City: sauna installation filing (another municipality)
- HUUM: HIVE manual and ventilation guidance
Municipal guidance applies to its own area. Ask the fire department responsible for your installation address which filing and documents are required.
Preparing your fire-department paperwork
Prepare four Japanese attachments for an electric sauna: equipment, ventilation, heat source and installation summaries. Reference airflow is calculated from room volume using Q = V × 6.
The sources include Tokyo and Nagoya filing guidance and the HUUM manual. Six air changes per hour is a manufacturer guideline, not a statutory requirement.
Confirm the main form and additional drawings with the local fire department. Unknown fields remain marked blanks; the attachments do not guarantee acceptance or compliance.
